I'm usually impatient when reading mystery books thanks to the pacing that a lot of mystery writers use. After the big murder takes place, I read on for a little bit. I get bored and then I end up flipping to the end and skipping the middle bits, just to see whodunit. I didn't do that with this book. This book is so well-written (in my opinion) that even the bits after the apex of the novel kept my attention. All-in-all, it was a fun horror murder mystery read! I couldn't put it down, and I didn't figure out who the killer was til the end. I would give this book 5 stars, but I almost skipped it entirely because I didn't like the cover. (Yes, I'm that shallow).Product details

fells like it could be edited down by half/ slow paced
A lot of kindle story books are short and don't finish the story. This book was well written, and covered everything that needed to be covered in the story to leave the reader fulfilled. GREAT JOB!
I really enjoyed The New Girl Who Found a Dead Body, but I seem to like everything Milda Harris has written so far! Her voice is great! I like the way she titled each chapter based on Chloe's situation. I was kept guessing until the end. She drew out the suspense in the last few pages pretty well. I recommend this for anyone who likes dry humor in their mysteries and a bit of romance. Keep on writing, Milda Harris!
Hilarious!! Get this book!!
I read a lot of fiction, especially romance and teen-related and I must admit - a lot is junk. Also, my tastes are strange as I generally don't care for the national bestsellers (Twilight, etc) but like the out-of-the-ordinary, the indie authors, the unique twists. That's why The New Girl Who Found a Dead Body thrilled me so much! It was fresh, not what one expects. The title by the way is the perfect title as the new girl in school finds the body of the most popular girl in school... AWKWARD! (and dangerous as Chloe learns soon enough...)
So many stories in this genre are badly written, unoriginal, and too short. This is a mix of all that is good, a new twist on teen/high school fiction, one that crosses humor/mystery/scary, and it's certainly not a short story disguised as a novel - this is a full-length story you will thoroughly enjoy.
I bought this book after reading the author's other book, Adventure in Funeral Crashing, which I really liked. I liked this one just as much. I like it when a book has characters that act realistically in unusual situations. I gave it five stars, because it's a great book in its genre. I got this writer's two books for less than the cost of a magazine. Way worth it.
This is a terrific whodunit and the key to it are the players in this well crafted story. The tale weaves around this girl who moves to California to go to school, and the story goes from here please get the book you can't go wrong.
